Education & Outreach

Dr. Stuart Siegel describing shore conditions in the Resilient By Design walking tour in August 2018.
Resilient Shore is helping communities join together to plan how to avoid catastrophic flooding due to sea level rise using nature-based solutions, while at the same time reducing flood insurance costs, improving San Rafael’s infrastructure, creating public spaces for recreation, and expanding wildlife habitats.
Our mission at Resilient Shore is to help find the right way of dealing with climate change threats. We’re a non-profit project dedicated to working with local people and businesses, listening to their concerns, and together creating the best-of-all-worlds flood mitigation plan that benefits everybody.
Resilient Shore looks forward to developing more extensive education and outreach partnerships and internships: with community neighborhood alliances, local K-12 schools, and California universities.
Our long-term vision is to help build an education pipeline for careers in engineering, science, and allied fields supporting shore resiliency with a particular focus on disadvantaged communities and first-time college attendees.
